Probiotic Cilantro + Kefir Sauce

This creamy sauce is versatile and full of probiotics to support gut health. Drizzle it over grains such as brown rice, couscous or quinoa, salad or use as a garnish for lamb, chicken or fish.

Prep time : 5 mins
Yield: 1 cup

Can be served hot or cold.

Ingredients
¾ cup plain kefir*
3 tbsp plain Greek yogurt
1 handful cilantro
Juice from ¼ lemon
½ tsp honey

Instructions
1.  Finely chop cilantro into small pieces

2. Add cilantro and other ingredients into a blender. Blend for 30 seconds.
Adjust the amount of greek yogurt for desired thickness.  

*What is kefir? Kefir is a fermented milk drink, with a consistency similar to yogurt. It contains a number of probiotic bacterial strains that support a healthy gut.

For this recipe I used the Lifeway plain Kefir but you can use any brand, just make sure it isn’t packed with added sugar. As well as fueling your gut, kefir is also naturally high in protein and calcium and low in lactose.
