Gut Health Nutrition Counseling

You may have read more about the importance of gut health in mainstream media. We now know that the gut microbiome (aka the community of bacteria in our guts) is the foundation of your health, influencing everything from your immune system to weight and even our mental health.

Why Is Gut Health Important?

Research shows that our diet influences the type and diversity of bacteria that live in our gut and the health of the gastrointestinal tract itself. The good news is that with the right dietary changes, we have the power to heal our gut and transform our health. Whether you have a known gut health issue or if you just want to improve your gut health as a preventative measure, we are here to help.

Here are just some of the reasons gut health is important:

  • Enables proper digestion & absorption of nutrients, allowing you to get more energy from your food you eat

“After being a yo-yo dieter all my life, I reached out to Tammy for help changing my relationship with food. The sessions were well structured, she always followed up with a summary of our discussion and set action points that were realistic yet also challenging. I now feel much more at peace with my body and self image. Thank you!”

FAQs

What does working with you look like?

To begin with we’ll have a complimentary 15 minute phone call. This will give us a chance to get to know each other and for you to learn more about how I could help you.

If you decide to move forward,  we conduct an initial consultation that lasts 60-75 minutes. During this session, we conduct a deep dive into your medical and nutrition background - this includes dietary preferences, eating behaviors and health goals. Before the end of the session, we’ll work together to set realistic, measurable goals to work on before we meet again.

During follow -up sessions (30-45 minutes) we’ll discuss how you’re doing with your goals, work on areas of concern and develop actionable steps to keep you on track.

How regularly do you schedule follow up visits?

This varies but we usually speak every 2-3 weeks. It all depends on your needs and schedule.

How long do you typically work with patients?

The duration of care is largely determined by your needs and preferences but we recommend working together for a minimum of 3 months for sustainable change.

Do you take insurance?

Some. I accept Cigna, Oscar, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield. Copays apply. HSA is accepted. I can verify benefits before starting to work together

Can I cancel or reschedule my appointments?

We try to remain flexible to suit my patient needs. If you need to cancel or reschedule, 48 hours notice is required or a $50 cancellation fee will apply.
